5h Steering Committee of the TBT Programme, Brussels

The fifth Steering Committee (SC) of the ACP-EU TBT Programme was held at the ACP House on Thursday, October 22nd 2015. The Committee was chaired by Mr. Viwanou Gnassounou (Assistant Secretary-General), ably assisted by Ms. Christiane Leong, both of the Department of Sustainable Economic Development and Trade at the ACP Secretariat.
In addition to the formal Steering Committee members such as those from DEVCO and the ACP Secretariat, the meeting was also attended by observers such as PAQI members in representation of the African Quality Infrastructure; the Pacific Island Forum (PIF); CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ), UNIDO and the Physikalisch Technische Budesanstalt (PTB).
During the meeting, the various stakeholders and observers were generally positive in the remarks on the Programme’s work and specifically highlighted: the effort in terms of coordination and information sharing with other donors and agencies (PTB, UNIDO); the increasing involvement and ownership of ACP Members in the planning phase of the TBT Programme.
The Chairman closed the meeting by commending the PMU for the number of activities carried out as well as the positive perspectives for the Programme.
