Posted on: July 09, 2013

Connecting to Value Chains

The ACP-EU TBT Programme took the advantage of the Aid for Trade Global Review at the WTO to present and raise awareness about the TBT Programme.

The Fourth Global Review theme was “Connecting to Value Chains” and examined the economic opportunities that trade in value added offers, the constraints that firms in developing, and in particular least-developed, countries face in connecting (and moving up) value chains and will focus on how Aid for Trade can assist in this process.

The event brought together more than 15 ministers from developed and developing countries, 17 heads of international agencies and regional organizations, representatives from 15 private sector companies and associations and an array of trade and development experts.

A presentation of the ACP EU TBT Programme has also taken place during the side event titled "From Standards Compliance to Shared Value: Making Value Chains meet Development Challenges" organized by UNIDO,ICTSD, IDE-JETRO and ODI.
